Ultramarine Eternity

Welcome to the evermore pool
Opulent and crystalline, you drip
Sweet stillness on sour minds.
Echoes of souls within
Its cryptic depths – locked
Water-tight clandestine

Fingers golden in the sun
Idyllic before respite
They loiter on shallow surface
Kissing promises goodbye
Mirror images dance fatally
On your serene façade.
Whispers bathe in truthfulness
But the crashing waves are lies.

Toes slip into the mystics –
The aquatic pools of evermore
Eden water sipped by straws,
To lusting lips of followers
And disciples of the Lord.
Dried by weary days of ingratitude,
Weeks of apathy,
The stains are faint on silver skin
But they’ll never fade away

Welcome to the evermore pool
Drink, child – have your share
Satiating chalices rarely fill more
Than once in a finite lifetime.
Luscious lips, still licking, chapped
Upon the edge of a sword…
Whisper, pools of water, “evermore.”

It is only a novel... or, in short, only some work in which the greatest powers of the mind are displayed, in which the most thorough knowledge of human nature, the happiest delineation of its varieties, the liveliest effusions of wit and humour, are conveyed to the world in the best-chosen language
— Jane Austen, Northanger Abbey
